The Magpie and the Red Wattlebird are important to me as they are a beautiful memory of my parents in-laws my dad in-law would my friends with the magpies that came to their garden, there was a family of magpies that would visit and dad made great friends with the male magpie calling him Jan, a Dutch name, male magpies not being as friendly as the female! They are very intelligent birds, dad would say and showed me that you can have a relationship with a bird like a magpie and their warble was just beautiful and the Red Wattlebird was my mum in-laws favourite bird which would come to visit when dad died , she said the song of thee we wattlebird sounded like dad calling and the when my mum in-law died a Wattlebird would constantly be in certain places that mum would love to visit! I felt it was mum visiting me.
