Zoo’s Victoria

Zoo’s Victoria’s vision is to be the world’s leading zoo based conservation organisation. Their mission is to galvanise communities to commit to the conservation of wildlife and wild places. At Eggpicnic we are currently working with them to help with conservation efforts on the Helmeted Honeyeater and the Southern Corroboree Frog as part of their 21 Species Fighting Extinction Program.

The Helmeted Honeyeater is endemic to Victoria and is the state’s bird emblem. It faces dangers including habitat degradation of their mountain swamp gum environment and nest predation by native and introduced species. The Southern Corroboree Frog is also endemic to Victoria and faces Chytridiomycosis – a disease caused by infection with Amphibian Chytrid Fungus.
