Eight in the Wild Series

Human activities pose many threats to bears and their environment. There are eight species of bear, six of which are listed as either endangered or vulnerable.

Bears are one of the most widely distributed terrestrial mammals on earth, they are ambassadors for wild places. Bears are keystone species, like farmers in the wild they disperse seeds and fertilize forests, helping to sustain their own environment. They are also indicator species, healthy bear populations tell us the ecosystem is balanced.

We teamed up with the highly talented Sydney based Aleta Hunt, from the creative duo Hunter & Eve, to create the first two characters of this series, the Spectacled Bear and the Polar Bear.
