Here and There

Here and There

Here and There, highlights the importance of Sydney Olympic Park as a key habitat for these birds. Migratory birds face enormous challenges due to habitat loss caused by climate change and land clearing and Australia provides critical habitat for millions of migratory birds each year.

Depicted are the Bar-Tailed Godwit, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Red-necked Stint, Eastern Curlew and Latham’s Snipe, all of which call Sydney Olympic Park home during their annual migrations. In 2007 a female Bar-tailed Godwit was tracked flying 11,680km from Alaska to New Zealand in nine days straight. It is the longest recorded bird flight on the planet. She can fly far enough to get to the Moon in her lifetime.

Here and There is a fine art reproduction of our mural at Sydney Olympic Park that you can have at home.
