I grew up with blue tongue lizards in my garden in Mawson. We built a new house in O'Connor 13 years ago and planted a native garden in the back yard. Regular visits from magpies, currawongs, eastern spinebills, silver eyes, superb fairy wrens and wattle...
The local magpies and peewees (magpie-larks) own my house. For them, it's their property. I only remember the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos starting to visit the neighbourhood after the 2003 Canberra bushfires. They are a symbol of hope and the preciousness of local wildlife and suburban sanctuaries....
Our garden is visited by GangGangs and Magpies on most days. We feel very privileged and just love our beautiful bird friends!...
