I recently saved a baby magpie-lark. While working from home I saw it get knocked out of its nest during a crow attack. It was too small and not ready to leave its nest. After a few days with a carer from ACT Wildlife, we collected the baby bird and released it into the same spot. Its parents came back and cared for it, but on advice we collected it and kept it inside in a cardboard box each night until it could fly. One day there was a sudden thunder storm and I rushed outside and brought the baby bird inside before it hailed! After supporting the baby bird for about a week it finally took flight. I learnt that magpie-larks are very territorial, and I am sure that I still see the bird around our house! We have named it Pippi.
