We are Eggpicnic

Eggpicnic is a renowned and award-winning design studio devoted to wildlife conservation, founded by designers and birders Camila De Gregorio and Christopher Macaluso. Their mission is centred on harnessing art as a powerful tool to combat the alarming decline of wildlife species worldwide, raising awareness and generating public support for the preservation of birdlife and biodiversity.

Specialising in illustrations and impactful public installations, they channel their creative energy to educate audiences on the urgent need for conservation. A portion of the proceeds from their work is directly donated to scientific research and conservation programs, reinforcing their commitment to creating tangible impact.

In 2023, Eggpicnic’s artistic expertise reached new heights with prestigious commissions that highlighted their dedication and influence in the realm of public art. Notably, their work illuminated the façade of the Australian Parliament House, casting a spotlight on conservation issues in front of lawmakers and visitors. That same year, their art also lit up the iconic pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during Vivid Sydney.

Eggpicnic’s portfolio includes extensive collaborations with prominent entities such as the City of Sydney, City of Melbourne, City Renewal Authority, Sydney Olympic Park, and iconic locations like Bondi Beach, where their art has transformed urban landscapes into vibrant tributes to wildlife. This creative excellence has earned numerous accolades, including recognition from the Sydney Opera House in 2019, cementing their role as leaders at the intersection of art and conservation.

Their commitment to scientific rigor is reflected in ongoing collaborations with experts like Dr Kate Umbers from Western Sydney University. Together, they lead research initiatives that quantify the measurable impact of art in driving conservation efforts.

In a landmark collaboration in 2023, Eggpicnic had the privilege of partnering with Shepard Fairey, one of the most influential street artists of our time, known for his iconic works, and Randall Poster, a distinguished music supervisor renowned for his contributions to film and music, working with directors such as Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese. These collaborations not only enriched Eggpicnic’s artistic narrative but also expanded their reach, further establishing their position at the forefront of creative activism.

In 2024, their work was honoured with the ACT Chief Minister’s Export Award in the field of creative industries.
