The clearing of rainforest to make way for palm oil plantations has taken a heavy toll on local communities, destroyed natural habitats for endangered species, and become a critical factor in climate change. At the current rate of habitat destruction, many species could be extinct in the wild in the next ten years as more than 80% of their habitat has been destroyed.

The production of Palm Oil needs to be regulated so that it’s not contributing to further devastation on deforestation, wildlife, habitat, the environment and the local native villagers who rely on their land to survive. The first step towards sustainability and regulation is mandatory labelling of products. If brands are forced to label palm oil then it places them in a position to source certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) or remove palm oil from their products. Our partners at Palm Oil Investigations have launched a world first free Palm Oil Barcode Scanner App available for Australia and New Zealand to reveal if the products you are purchasing are contributing to the destruction of the rainforest for you to make an informed decision and change the course of Indonesia’s future.
